East Midlands Property Dinner 2008

Chris BarrieAround 500 of the best-known names in the East Midlands commercial property sector put the current market woes behind them on a night in September to enjoy the East Midlands Property Dinner 2008.

Despite the current financial downturn, the mood was remarkably upbeat at the East Midlands Conference Centre and a host of new names on the honours list showed the diversity and strength of commercial property in the East Midlands. The awards were hosted by Chris Barrie of Red Dwarf fame and the nominated charity for the evening was CP Sport.

A surprise winner was Nottingham-based Heb, which beat off the challenge of more established rivals Nattress Giles and Innes England in the Agent of the Year category. Trent Park Developments won Residential East Midlands Property Dinner 2008Developer of the Year for its River Crescent scheme and proved that it’s not all gloom and doom in the residential sector.

But the night really belonged to Peter Gadsby, chairman of Cedar House Investments, who seemed genuinely moved after receiving the Special Achievement Award from his peers. It was a great night for the former Derby County chief, as another developer he chairs, Miller Birch, which won Commercial Developer of the Year.

The year ahead will be a tough one for our winners and those shortlisted. Watch this space to see what the East Midlands Property Dinner 2009 holds in store.
