The Central and East of England Dealmakers Awards saw a healthy gathering share the success of the evening’s winners.
Deal of the Year went to the team who advised on the management buyout of Bart Spices. The award was collected by Oli Wright of Five Corporate Finance, the lead adviser on the deal. Wright thanked NatWest, the funders of the deal and the legal advisers from emw picton howell.
The Dealmaker of the Year crown went to Laurence Whitehead of MacIntyre Hudson who beat a strong shortlist from a wide range of disciplines to seize the award. His nominations included praise for the enthusiastic way Whitehead and his firm has worked the market, selling a number of businesses through a very tough year.
Speaking to Insider, Whitehead said: "To be recognised with two awards at such a prestigious event as the Insider Dealmaker Awards is a great honour, not just for myself but more importantly for our CF team. We have all worked tirelessly in the last year to make deals happen and remain positive and we hope that the market will start to pick up again in early 2010, enabling more clients to realise their personal goals."
Compere for the event was broadcaster Garry Richardson.
