NORTH WEST

regional mapThe North West Business Insider magazine, launched in 1991, has more than 64,100 regular readers each month and a growing subscriber base. Insider’s readers are business owners, managing directors, senior partners and main board directors. In addition to regional North West business news and business features generated by the North West’s editorial team, based in Manchester, the magazine contains unique facts and information compiled by its own team of researchers. The emphasis is very much on regional business news supplied by staff writers who both live and work in the region. As other print media reduce their regional editorial resource, it has been increasing at Insider. There is no other way to source “the” local story or stay in touch with local businesses and to understand their local needs without local writers. Insider’s Editorial Director, Michael Taylor, is committed to delivering independent editorial that is respected and in touch with the local business community. The magazine enjoys an advertising and marketing partnerships with Sale Sharks Rugby Club and Lancashire County Cricket Club.

YORKSHIRE

Yorkshire Business Insider launched in Leeds in 1998. A second Yorkshire office opened in Sheffield in 2007 to ensure that South Yorkshire also benefited from a local sales and editorial team. The magazine enjoys an advertising and marketing partnership with Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

The magazine has a growing subscriber base and more than 40,000 readers every month. Research carried out in 2007 by GKNOP (previously National Opinion Polls) confirmed that readers believe that the magazine has content that advertisers “cannot obtain anywhere else”.

MIDLANDS

Midlands Business Insider grew from an acquisition by the company in 2001 and in 2003 the name was changed to Insider. Midlands Business Insider is read by more than 62,760 decision makers. The differences between the East and West Midlands business communities are reflected by two editions of Insider: one for the East Midlands and one serving the West. An office opened in 2007 in Nottingham to give the East Midlands a dedicated editorial presence in the region.

The reader base reflects the large percentage of manufacturing companies in the Midlands. The magazine enjoys a partnership with InvestBX the regional stock exchange based in Birmingham.

WALES

In 2005 the first copy of Wales Business Insider was launched from new offices in Cardiff. Since that date the regional sales team has increased to five and the dedicated regional editorial team have taken the bi-monthly magazine up to 9 issues in 2007. The recent readership survey confirmed that Wales Insider benefits from a high “pass on” rate with four regular readers per copy increasing to six when casual readers are included giving a total readership of 32,000 per month.

SOUTH WEST

The newest addition to the group, South West Business Insider, launched in 2007 and is based in Bristol. Nine issues will be published in its first full year. The new sales team is in place and a regional editorial team has also been established. Local businesses have welcomed Insider by making the first Dealmaker Dinner a “sell out” event. There is strong local interest in Insider networking events because fewer take place in this large geographic region than in cities such as Manchester.

NATIONAL

The national division is responsible for selling sponsorship and listings into the annual publications and Dealmakers Guides. There are seven regional guides (one for each region of the UK) and several “sector” specific guides such as the BioScience Guide. The revenue and profit generated by the Dealmakers Guides has grown by 138% and 221% over five years.
