The rising cost of raw materials has made life uncomfortable for many of the region’s food and drink manufacturers, yet it hasn’t dented the fact that Yorkshire remains one of the country’s premier culinary destinations with some household brand names.
This strength is further boosted by Yorkshire’s considerable logistics strengths, as evidenced by continued investment in plant and factories in the region over the past year, helping suppliers and retailers to move fresh products quickly.
In this month’s sector report we take the opportunity to assess the overall economic health of the food and drink sector, featuring recent deals and taking turning the spotlight on key companies, large and small. We will also look at how SMEs in Yorkshire are using regional provenance to achieve national success in areas including snacks, cheese and beer.
