As in other regions of the UK, the value of sport to the Yorkshire economy is growing fast as the country as a whole benefits from not only the run-up to the Olympics but also from our bids to host the rugby and football World Cups. The value of sport to our business tourism economy should also not be underestimated, as evidenced by the impact that hosting the BBC’s Sports Personality show recently had for Sheffield.
Commercial links between sport and our universities are also growing fast, while development plans for the likes of Leeds Arena will only further increase the region’s offer too. In our special report, we take a look behind the region’s sporting business economy to find out which businesses are benefiting from its expansion and where future growth prospects lie.
