The first round of Enterprise Zones was announced in the Budget this year, with Birmingham and Solihull, the Black Country and Derby and Nottingham LEPs securing Enterprise Zone status. The second round was announced in August with Northampton Waterside, MIRA Technology Park in Hinckley, and Rotherwas Enterprise Zone in Hereford all being successful.
In this feature we’ll take an in-depth look at what’s happening at each Enterprise Zone, as well as examining the role of LEPs in developing the sites.
We’ll ask local professionals whether the modern-day Enterprise Zones will be different to their 1980s counterparts, and examine the original versions’ legacy.
